WHAT ARE DATA CENTERS?
Data centers are strategically located on large parcels of land that provide natural buffers, reducing visibility and preserving the surrounding character. Positioned near high-capacity power and fiber lines, they ensure reliable infrastructure without straining existing community services. With minimal daily traffic, low water consumption thanks to modern cooling systems, and no impact on schools, data centers are a responsible, low-impact fit for the communities they serve.

Data centers deliver meaningful infrastructure upgrades that strengthen the entire community without burdening residents.
New substations and transmission upgrades are paid for entirely by the developer, ensuring reliable power without increasing rates. Modern closed-loop cooling systems keep daily water use comparable to an office building, while developers extend utilities at their expense, creating added capacity for neighboring properties.
With some of the lowest traffic impacts of any major land use—around 60 trips per hour compared to more than 500 for retail—data centers provide long-term infrastructure benefits with minimal community disruption.
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Project Accelerate is sensitative to ALL types of wildlife on site, down to the most sensitive species including bats, flowers and butterflies. Construction schedules are planned to minimize impacts on ALL migratory species and local wildlife.
Detailed tree studies also guide development to preserve natural buffers around residential areas.
Operations are quiet, with noise levels similar to a standard HVAC system—far lower than everyday sounds like cows, cicadas, lawnmowers or trucks.
Beyond preservation, data centers create opportunities for green enhancements such as trails, linear parks, and nature-viewing spaces, blending secure infrastructure with community-focused amenities to benefit the Town of Matthews.
